Multi-Head Laser Bar Selection Guide

Multi-Head Laser Bar Selection Guide

Specifying a fat beam laser bar for a mid-size indoor room comes down to three numbers: how wide the beam reads at the aperture, how many heads you can aim, and how deep the control channel count goes. The Y22-W24000 answers all three as a 12-head moving head laser bar, built around φ15mm beam outputs, analog modulation and 180° rotation on every head, so one fixture can run as a single wide wall of light or as twelve independently aimed beams.

Beam Definition

What Actually Makes a Beam “Fat”

Beam diameter at the aperture is the deciding figure. A needle-thin effect disappears across a long room; a wide, dense column stays readable from the back row. On the Y22-W24000 the specification is explicit: φ15mm per head, RGB full colour, and analog modulation so colour fades glide instead of stepping.

Y22-W24000 figures are taken from the current product page: 24W RGB, 12 heads, φ15mm beam diameter, 180° rotation per head, 14CH / 74CH, ≤220W, indoor medium events. Rows marked “specs pending” need a direct data request — confirm output, beam diameter, channels and power for your configuration before ordering.

Head Architecture

Twelve Heads, Two Ways to Drive Them

The Y22-W24000 is a modular 12-head bar. Every head can be commanded together for one large-scale gesture, or addressed on its own for detail work — the same hardware, two very different shows.

Unison mode

All twelve heads move together for neat, large-scale visual effects. This is the fast route for chases, sweeps and mirrored looks, and it holds alignment across a spliced row of units.

Individual mode

Each head can be controlled individually and rotates through 180°, so beams can fan, cross and layer. Seven 42-frame high-torque stepper motors drive the movement precisely across the bar.

Splicing works horizontally and vertically, so a run of bars can form one continuous horizontal wall or a stacked vertical curtain. Built-in effects and easy macro recall let operators rebuild a saved look in seconds instead of re-programming it.

Effect Type

Which Beam Type Do You Actually Need?

Multi-head bars sit alongside four other laser families. If the effect you picture does not match the description below, a bar is the wrong tool — pick the row that sounds like your show.

Fat beam multi-head bar

Pick this if you want wide, solid beam columns arranged in a row you can sweep, fan or splice. Best for clubs, medium indoor events and stages where the beam itself is the visual. This is the Y22-W24000 category.

Thin beam effect

Pick this if you want a fine, sharp pencil line for aerial punctuation rather than body. Thin beams read as accents over a crowd; they do not fill a room the way a fat beam does.

Scanner laser

Pick this if you need drawn graphics, text and patterns projected onto a surface. Scanners render shapes; a multi-head bar renders beams and movement, not logos.

Matrix laser

Pick this if you want a grid of individually addressed points for pixel-style animation. It is a display surface, not a beam array, and it behaves differently in a rig.

Animation laser

Pick this if the show is built around moving graphics and figures. Animation content is drawn, so beam diameter and head count matter far less than scan performance.

Waterproof / landmark

Pick this if the fixture must live outdoors or throw a single long column across a skyline. That is a housing and throw-distance decision before it is a beam-shape one.

Power, Control, Environment, Freight

Four decisions carry straight over from the specification sheet to site day. Getting them right before the quote avoids change orders later.

Power and cabling AC100~240V 50/60Hz input with ≤220W draw per bar. Budget the circuit and the infeed before you confirm unit count.
Control planning Choose 14CH for straightforward playback or 74CH for per-head programming. RDM bidirectional data and DMX512 upgrade are supported.
Environment Operate dry, in low-dust conditions at 0~35°C. The page notes this reduces diode attenuation and extends the life of the light.
Freight and rigging Packed 1 in 1 carton at 108 × 21 × 36cm, 23kg net and 25kg gross. Use the gross figure for shipping and load planning.

what beam diameter does the y22-w24000 produce?

the product page lists a φ15mm beam diameter with rgb full colour output and analog modulation. that wide aperture is what gives the fixture its solid, sharply defined beam columns rather than thin pencil lines.

how many heads does it have, and can each one move separately?

there are 12 heads. all twelve can move in unison for neat, large-scale visual effects, or each head can be controlled individually. every head rotates through 180°.

which module configurations are listed for this model?

the page shows w2000 (r600 + g500 + b1w) × 12 pcs and an alternate listing of w2000 (r638-600mw + g520-500mw + b450-1w) × 12 pcs. confirm which build you require when requesting your quote.

what control modes and channel counts are available?

control modes are sound, automatic, dmx512, master-slave and user mode, with 14ch or 74ch channel options. the control technology includes rdm bidirectional data transmission and a dmx512 upgrade.

what power and operating conditions does it need?

rated voltage is ac100~240v 50/60hz with power consumption of ≤220w. it should be operated dry and in low-dust conditions at 0~35°c, which the page notes reduces diode attenuation and extends the life of the light.

how is it packed, and how do i order?

packing is 1 in 1 carton at 108 × 21 × 36cm, with 23kg net and 25kg gross weight. ordering runs through the quote list rather than a cart, so submit your unit count, module configuration and any oem or customisation requirements through the contact page.
